Governing Board
The ultimate purpose of education is to help students become effective citizens in our democracy. Our governing board partners with us to ensure that all students at Vernon participate in and learn about reading, writing, arithmetic, research, respect, responsibility, rights, reasoning, reflecting, and the arts.
The individuals on our school board are elected community members who volunteer their time for the benefit of our school district and the students who attend our school. They assist the district in planning, budgeting, and implementing school programs and help ensure fiscal responsibility.
Public Notices
We welcome the pubic to attend our regular board meetings. Meeting are held on the second Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. unless otherwise posted. Our regular meetings will be held in the school library. To keep the public informed as to the governing board agenda we post all public notices and agendas outside the school (one is located by the main doors of the school; the other is located in the display box in next to the driveway exit). The public may also view all board meeting agendas and minutes by visiting our website.
Accessing Board Agendas/Minutes
- Note: All current meetings are “featured” and appear on the Board Docs Home page.
- Click on the button on the right hand side of this page titled “Board Agendas/Minutes”.
- This will take you to a program called Board Docs.
- Once in Board Docs, locate the button titled “Meetings”.
- Once in Meetings you will see current and historical meetings listed on the left hand side of the page by date and year. Current agendas are located at the top of the list.
- To see historical agendas and minutes you can click on the plus icon next to the year.
- If you would like to search for a specific year or topic, you can click on the magnifier icon and type in the topic or date you are searching for. If that topic is in the database Board Docs will retrieve all items that fall inside the search parameters.
