Governing Board

The ultimate purpose of education is to help students become effective citizens in our democracy. Our governing board partners with us to ensure that all students at Vernon participate in and learn about reading, writing, arithmetic, research, respect, responsibility, rights, reasoning, reflecting, and the arts.

The individuals on our school board are elected community members who volunteer their time for the benefit of our school district and the students who attend our school. They assist the district in planning, budgeting, and implementing school programs and help ensure fiscal responsibility.

We welcome the public to attend our regular board meetings on the second Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. Within 24 hours prior to each month’s meeting, we will post a meeting agenda on this page. We value the input of our community and invite you to provide your comments regarding the items open for review.

State law allows board members to meet in closed executive sessions to discuss personnel, legal, and negotiation matters; however, all board action and voting must be conducted in public session.

Public Notices

We post all public notices at Vernon Elementary on the outside bulletin board (the one by the double front doors) and on the bulletin board outside the main gate. Both of these locations are open to the public Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

We will also post public notices online for your convenience.
